Dog Tales….
A shaggy dog story is a joke that takes forever to set up—-and pays off with a punch line that’s a real groaner….
Although, we have unlimited space on this blog—-I’m too darn lazy to write 47 pages of text to get to the punch lines of these stories— so you’ll have to settle for what I’ll call some “shaved dog stories”…
ANOTHER FINE MESS…
Folks in the quiet little town of Oakfield Township, Michigan woke up on morning a few months ago to find their community was in the center of a dastardly heist.
Someone had stolen a woman’s religious heirloom statute because they claimed her dogs were—ah—how can we say this nicely—leaving signs of their presence everywhere…
So, when the theft happened— Jean Mansel notified the media who were quick to jump on the stolen statue caper…
Turns out Jean’s neighbor’s apparently weren’t the culprits.
Shortly after that story aired— she found out it was a family member who stole the statue—not her neighbors.
News reports quoted her as declining to comment any further—except to say—it was a family matter now.
Guess her dog’s weren’t the only ones who stepped in it…
IT JUST DOESN’T ADD UP…
When I was a kid—teachers used to yell at you if you used your fingers to help count up the answer to a math problem….
But, Dave gets to use his digits when doing everything from simple addition and subtraction to square roots.
You see, Dave is a dog. A math dog to be specific..
Dave—who has his own website —travels the Midwest putting on demonstrations at schools and churches.
You can see an example of his math acumen in this clip where he performs with another Dave…
As you can read here, Dave the Math dog can do his calculations in Spanish and Japanese.
Turns out Dave the math dog isn’t so unique.
He’s got a puppy named Jackson—who is showing signs that he can add and subtract too.
Since Dave the Math dog is so good at numbers—I’m thinking of letting him negotiate my next contract.
He’s probably smarter than my current agent—and will work for dogie treats—which is a whole lot less than my agent’s fees!
