The Past And The Future…

They say that those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it…

But sometimes, knowing the past—won’t help you with the future…

BRIDGETTE OVER TROUBLED WATERS….

She was considered the quintessential sex kitten back in the 60’s….

Today she’s got a much different look and attitude.

Bridgette Bardot is in the news these days—accused of hate crimes… The 73-year old actress is charged with inciting racial hatred against the Muslims in her home, country of France….

But back in the 60’s—when she was a screen siren—the only thing she was accused of was being too overtly sexy…

These clips from a critique of Roger Vadim’s “And God Created Woman” were considered quite riske at the time…Today they seem quite tame…

Back in those days Bardot was quoted as saying,

“It’s sad to grow old—but, it’s nice to ripen..”

She retired from films in 1973—-just shy of her 40th birthday—thus avoiding what Goldie Hawn called the 3rd age of female stardom.

THE FUTURE IS NOW….

Meanwhile—there’s a group of futurists who say they can pretty much tell the future as the result of present trends.

The folks at the Merlin Project have been at it since 1989—and claim an 80% accuracy rate.

You can read all about them in detail here , where they claim to have predicted stock market crashes, terrorist attacks, and the fall of the Soviet Union among other things.

They base their predictions on something they call timetracks.

Perhaps, I’ll give ‘em a call…

Maybe they can tell me what topics will be hot in the days ahead—so I’ll know what to blog about—and which ones to avoid…

(A few winning lottery numbers would be nice too!)
