Clean Up Your Own Mess…
Most folks think politicians spend their careers doing to the public what Eliot Spitzer is accused of doing with high-priced call girls—and yesterday— he apologized for it.
But he didn’t apologize alone. He dragged his wife on stage to stand there while he did it.
Watch her closely in this clip.
How revolting of Spitzer.
This poor woman is already humiliated—-and now—she has to stand next to her husband as a prop while he uses her in a subtle attempt to say, “see, I’m not such a bad guy.”
But the fact remains, Spitzer didn’t get into that mess with his wife—why should she be forced to clean it up for him.
His troubles evoke memories of politicians in the past who got themselves into a lot of trouble—and had to extricate themselves from a major mess.

In 1969 Ted Kennedy was driving a car that went off a bridge on Martha’s Vineyard’s Chappequiddick Island, killing Mary Jo Kopechne.
He made a speech—accepting blame. And he did it without his long-suffering wife Joan by his side.
You may not agree with the punishment that was handed out—but at least he took the blame like a man.

And then, there was Richard Nixon’s famous “Checkers” speech in 1952.
He was accused of accepting $18,000 in illegal campaign contributions, and an angry Dwight Eisenhower was gettting ready to bounce him from the ticket.
Nixon also dragged his wife Pat into his mess—using her as a silent prop during the speech.
Although the speech saved Nixon’s career—even his wife Pat couldn’t save him from the ultimate disgrace—when 30 years later— he was forced to resign the presidency.
Eliot Spitzer—take note.
