Monster Mash…

Crypotozoologists are the folks who study exotic creatures—both extinct—and those who supposedly inhabit the back woods and remote areas of our planet.

And, in near-by South Carolina—just a scant 180 miles south of Raleigh—they’ve got some fresh meat to work with.

Seems the creature of Scape Ore Swamp is back—and angry…

Known as “The Lizard Man”, these clips here tell of

his first appearance in the late ’80’s when he was spotted by a teen who was changing a blown tire in Scape Ore Swamp. That night, the 17-year old had an up-close and frightening visit with the creature…

You can read the clips—and learn more about Lizard Man’s early history here…

In the ensuing years after the 1988 sighting—the creature became more legend than news item—until this week.

The video below shows how some folks living near the swamp are taking his reappearance mighty seriously…

The creature ’s sighting evokes the memory of that 1950’s science fiction flick— The Creature From The Black Lagoon.

The thriller made a star out of a young Michael Landon…

And it also made a cult hero out of Ben Chapman—the man inside the rubber monster suit.

Ben Chapman passed away the other day at age 79—but his website still exists— chock full of all kinds of goodies about the making of the movie and other monster stuff.

Chapman never received a screen credit in that film—because the studio didn’t want folks to know the “creature” was just a guy in a suit…

One wonders if South Carolina’s Lizard Man will suffer the same fate?
