No Clear Leader….

As we enter the next round of contests in the presidential quest— we’re seeing an interesting dynamic at play here on both the Republican and Democratic side—vote-2008-graphic.png

—there’s no candidate whose just dominating; no one who has pulled out in front of the others and become the far and away leader….

Lets look back.

IOWA : Obama/Huckabee

N.H. : Clinton/McCain

MICHIGAN: Clinton/Romney

On the eve of the South Carolina primary—could we see yet ANOTHER set of winners?

It’s quite possible.

Fred Thomson is hoping to score big—as is John Edwards.

In addition to looking at front runners—we also have to look at delegate counts.

And, as of this writing, all the winners in each of the previous contests are—for the most part—are not that far apart when it comes to delegates.

DEMOCRATS NEED 2,025 DELEGATES TO NOMINATE.

REPUBLICANS NEED 1,191 DELEGATES TO NOMINATE.

In the coming days—they’ll be tons of analysis—and lots of spin from each candidate’s camp on what’s going on here.

But, simply put—it comes down to this:

It’s still wide open for anyone—giving all of us some very clear choices..

hey thanks for the update on the political playoffs! this whole thing is shaping up like a year-long sport, with the DNC conference champs facing off against the RNC conference champs in the White House SuperBowl November 4th. only, unlike in football or basketball, the national champ doesn’t just get say “hey look i won the championship!”, but actually gains and keeps a position for 4 years. i suppose in that way its a little more like a Miss America contest…. ….. …. (shiver, ugh)…

BETWEEN the LINES replies:
At least at the end of all this no one will sing the Miss America theme song !!!! (we hope ! )
