Bit & Pieces, Odds & Ends Version7.0

More Rants, ruminations and reflections that are floating around in my over-sized head—just dying to come out….

THE PRIDE O’ NORTH CAROLINA….

Kelly Pickler has done this state proud..

picklerheadshot.png

Recently she appeared on the TV show Are You Smarter Than A 5th grader—and proved she wasn’t even smarter than a 3rd grader

As the clip posted below shows—she couldn’t answer the 3rd grade geography question which asked: What European country has Budapest as its capital?

Kelly alternately told us she thought:

When she was finally told that Budapest was the capital of Hungary—she said she’d never heard of that place either.

But I don’t want Kelly to worry…. That’s ’cause I know she’ll do great on MY new game show called—“Are You Dumber Than A Box Of Rocks?”

WHO NEEDS A SPELLCHECKER…

I recently came across this little item and was stunned that not only could I could read it with ease—but so could my 7-year-old….

bluebrain-1.png

Turns out the human brain doesn’t always see spelling—but rather recognizes patterns..

Not Olny srmat poelpe can raed tihs.I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rgh it pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

This is great news! No longer will I have to worry about spell-checking my blog…Of course— this presumes I actually know which FIRST and LAST letter belong in each word I write!!

OPTICAL CONFUSION…

And speaking of how the brain processes stuff—I’m told—that there’s not a lot of difference between Good and Evil, as this little picture shows..

goodorevil.png

Look closely—you’ll see the word EVIL embedded in the word GOOD

Which word did you see first?
