The Fire In Their Bellies….
The recent bickering between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama about who decided to run for the presidency first reminds me of the squabbles my little kids get into.
Their “Did-Too”, “”Did-Not” skirmishing is rather pointless…. Does it really matter WHEN they decided to run for president? Seems to me, both of them are fairly recent comers to the getting elected game…
But, there are some in this presidential race who’ve been “on the run” for decades….….
Long time Triangle news anchor and legendary broadcaster Bob Vernon sent us this story of a current presidential candidate who was into public service so early in his life—–that he literally was a kid doing it..….
I was a young disc jockey in Cleveland, Ohio. It was back in the 1960s and I remembered this young college student that the guys in the newsroom were telling me about.
He lived in one of Cleveland’s many ethnic neighborhoods and was going door to door campaigning for a City Council seat.
The thing was – he was too young to make the age cut-off and he was so poor that he lived in a garage or basement as I recall. Plus, the Council seats were part-time jobs with part-time pay; not enough to live on.
The kid was always contacting the various news departments with his position papers and looking for free air time.
The kid must have knocked on every door in the precinct time after time for a couple of years because when he was finally old enough to run – he was elected.
His name was Dennis.
Dennis Kucinich.
Thanks for that story Bob…..
Now, I don’t know when Dennis Kucinich decided to actually run for the presidency—but, it’s obvious from Bob’s story Kucinich seems to have had the “fire in his belly” longer than Hillary and Obama combined…
In past posts, we promised to keep you updated on situations where Hillary Clinton tries to make claim to her “presidency” years ago…
We’ve got another instance now… in this Associated Press story we’ve linked here — she claims she was wielding power and making decisions with Bill… She claims “we created” millions of jobs in the 1990’s…
You gotta wonder—did they play “hail to the chief” every time she walked in the room??
