Blinding Us With Science….

There’s good science—and there’s bad science…And many times, science makes our lives better.

But sometimes—science tells us things that are off the wall—or useless…

Take the latest scientific study linked here that tells us EATING your iPod ear buds is dangerous..

Now, I don’t know about you—-but I can’t remember the last time I sat down to a nice, heaping plate of headphones…

The study in question says there are certain substances in the plastic wires of the earbuds that are dangerous if eaten—or inhaled.

Now, I know that some folks will do anything for a rush—and a few posts ago, we told you of kids inhaling human waste in order to get high—but I can’t figure out how you’d actually INHALE an iPod earbud cord.

OK..OK… I can hear the next argument coming. What about the children? Don’t we need to protect them from the iPod earbuds?

The protection angle makes sense if you’re talking about kids toys—and goodness knows how many lead-tained Chinese-made toys have been recalled.

But, eventually, a kid gets old enough to put down the crayons and stop drawing stick figures…

…And, if your kid is old enough to have an iPod—they’re probably old enough to know the sound-making thingee goes in the little holes at the SIDE OF THE HEAD, not in the big hole at the front of the head.

Of course, one thing the study didn’t tells us was HOW MANY iPod earbuds you have to eat or inhale to get sick.

As a kid, I ate my share of that white paste we used in school to hold construction paper together—and look at me—I’m just fine..

Ah… then again—all that paste eating COULD explain why I’m such a curmudgeon today!

I can’t stop laughing. This gives me some ideas. How about Earbud Stuffing for the Thanksgiving turkey? Yum. Or maybe…Earbud a l’Orange? Tuna Earbud Casserole.

Well, gotta run. Gonna cook me up some nice DSL cable with pesto sauce for dinner.
