They say the best way to understand someone else’s life is to walk a mile in their shoes… And so it is with the men and women who are fighting for us overseas… You have to experience what they are going through…

* You won’t get it in the newspaper…

* You won’t get in on TV…

The only place you’re going to get it is the Internet… And not just anywhere on the Internet.

On a specific video site known as LIVE LEAK.

For some reason— soldiers have decided this is the best place to post their videos.. And post they do.

There are scores and scores of snippets on this site….

Some show what it’s like be the target of an improvised explosive device (IED) on the side of the road…

Others show the drama of combat… warts and all with no editing..
WARNING: THIS CLIP HAS GRAPHIC LANGUAGE & IMAGES

Other clips just show the mundane side of life in a war zone.

It is said of war—that it’s hours of boredom punctuated by minutes of panic.

If you look at enough of these clips over the weeks—you’ll begin to get a sense of what our military goes through day in and day out.

Most of this stuff isn’t what the traditional media would consider “newsworthy.” And the audience for it might not extend beyond the unit that posted it. But the fact remains, it is out there—uncensored—for all the world to see.

We may not walk a mile in their shoes– but we can sure try ‘em on in the shoestore we call cyberspace.
